Peter Jablonskis third recording for ONDINE is a collection of piano works by the Polish composer Grayna BacewiczGrazina Bacewicz received piano and violin instruction from an early age under her father, a musician. She enrolled at the Warsaw Conservatory in 1928 and, after graduating in 1932, went to study in Paris, where she studied composition under Nadia Boulanger at the cole Normale de Musique. An accomplished violinist who served as concertmaster of the Polish Radio Symphony Orchestra, she left behind numerous works for violin, four symphonies, and piano pieces; however, until very recently, her works were virtually unknown outside of Poland. However, as Polish performersled by Christian Zimmermannhave taken up her music one after another, attention has been drawn to her original compositional style, and in recent years, opportunities to hear her works have increased.On this album, Jab
