Peter Mark & London Symphony Orchestra’s classic Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and “Scotland” reissued on 2-track, 38cm, open reel tape From the creator Peter Mark (1919-2001) was very popular in Japan. Mendelssohn’s “A Midsummer Night’s Dream” and Symphony No. 3 “Scotland”, which Mark recorded with the London Symphony Orchestra in the early days of stereo, are still regarded as faded masterpieces. Midsummer” was previously reissued on Decca’s early LP SXL2060 (GS-2041, 2009), but this is the first reissue of “Scotland”. The reissue was done on 2-track, 38cm open-reel tape, and the original sound has been captured in its original form, resulting in a fresh sound quality rarely heard.
