In South Tyrol, Italywhich was part of Austria until the end of World War Ithe Mahler Academy Bolzano-Bo -zen>, the Mahler Academy Orchestra provides opportunities for young musicians from around the world to perform alongside members of renowned European orchestras. Its Originalklang (German for original sound) project involves gathering instruments from around the world (including period replicas) that were in use in Vienna at the time of the premiere (in this case, around 1900), researching and mastering the performance practices of that era, and then performing and recording the works. Following the release of Symphony No. 9 in 2024, which received widespread acclaim worldwide, Symphony No. 5 is now available. (C)RS
