A wonderful collection of Mendelssohn songs performed by two German artists in their 20s.Robert Polars is a tenor born in Leipzig in 1994. As a boy, he sang in the St. Thomas Church Boys Choir. After studying at the Felix Mendelssohn University of Music and Performing Arts in Leipzig, he has been active as a soloist. Polars voice is exceptionally natural, light, and delicate. While Mendelssohns songs are all masterpieces, singing them with a heavy voice would cause his unique, dreamlike quality to vanish. Polars singing, filled with an ethereal beauty, is a marvelous experience that allows us to rediscover Mendelssohns songs. His accompanist, Friedrich Pretorius, is also a young pianist born in 1996.
