Born out of a respect for a particularly rich era of Australian rock, this album delves into the melancholy beneath vast skies, the heat shimmering over the plains, and the atmosphere of a dingy pub backroom, resulting in a work that resonates deeply with those familiar with its sounds, era, and places. Im listening to this this morning, and it really resonates. While it has that glam rock/new wave-style pretentious energy, it also possesses a strangeness and complexity that keeps it from being mere imitation. Stereogum
