A collection of works that express the admiration of three Portuguese composers for Beethoven.Bontempo was a composer of the Classical period. Born in Lisbon, he honed his skills in Paris and London before returning to his homeland, where he left behind a large body of work centered on piano pieces. This piano quintet, published by Clementi in 1813, is written in the Viennese Classical style and carries on Beethovens tradition. Csar Vianas Labyrinth of the Ear was commissioned for the Beethoven Festival held in Lisbon in 2020. It employs the idea of adding contrapuntal melodies to motifs from Beethovens string quartets. Jaime Reiss Sangue Inverso was conceived in 2015 and completed in 2020. It consists of seven movements, which can be performed either simultaneously or in sequence. The album features the fifth movement, a piece that also emerged from a study of Beethovens Great Fugue. C
