While currently working on a complete recording of Beethovens string quartets, their new recording released in March 2016 features Saint-Sanss Piano Quintet and String Quartet No. 1.Composed in 1855, the Piano Quintet was dedicated to Saint-Sanss great-aunt. The piano part requires extremely advanced technique, giving the piece the character of a piano concerto. On the other hand, the String Quartet No. 1, composed in 1899, is one of his late masterpieces, yet it is rarely performed or recorded.
