Onslo: A Performance on Gut StringsThis is the second volume of Georges Onslows string quartets performed by the Ruggieri Quartet, a chamber music ensemble formed in 2007 by virtuosos who have played central roles in renowned ensembles such as Les Tarans Lyriques and Amarilis. This serves as a sequel, so to speak, to the previously released *Onslo: String Quartets*.Onslo was born in Clermont-Ferrand in 1784 and died there. Having never studied at a conservatory, and with his three operas failing to garner warm reception, he remained on the fringes of the mainstream. Labeled a talented amateur, he was long forgotten; however, his reputation is now rapidly rising. Onslos 12 string quartets were completed in 1814, and each is brimming with fluidity and elegance.
