30th Anniversary of Kubeliks PassingIn August 2026, to mark the 30th anniversary of Rafael Kubeliks passing, his Mahler recordings for Deutsche Grammophon will be released over three consecutive months.At the heart of this series is the complete Mahler symphony cycle that Kubelik recorded with the Bavarian Radio Symphony Orchestra between 1967 and 1971a recording known as the first Mahler cycle by a German orchestra. The first release features Symphony No. 1, Titan, recorded in 1967; Symphony No. 2, Resurrection, recorded in 1969; Symphony No. 3, recorded in May 1967, and *Songs of a Wayfarer*, recorded in November 1968 with Dietrich Fischer-Dieskau as soloist.This first release traces Kubeliks journey as he consistently dedicated himself to Mahlers music long before it became as widely accepted as it is today.
