Commemorating the 200th Anniversary of Joachim Raffs Birth.The warm, refined sound of a cappella performed by a choir from his homelandSwiss composer Joachim Raff celebrated the 200th anniversary of his birth in 2022. He honed his orchestration skills as an assistant to Franz Liszt in his youth and is regarded as one of Switzerlands leading symphonists, having composed more than 10 symphonies. Raff, who was also an accomplished pianist, left behind a large body of work, including piano pieces. These works have gained a strong and enduring following in Japan thanks to their expansive beautyevocative of the Swiss landscapeand their warm sound, rooted in the Romantic tradition.
