Description:

The complete string quartets of Friedrich Theodor Frhlich (18031836), a Swiss composer of the early Romantic period. Encouraged by his parents, he initially pursued a career in law, but a serious illness led him to switch to a career in music. Although he studied composition and secured a position as a teacher at a public high school, he suffered from mental illness due to personal hardships and met a tragic end by throwing himself into a river. While the existence of his orchestral and chamber music works is known, the dates of composition for all of them remain unclear, and further research is anticipated. In these string quartets, one can hear tightly structured music reminiscent of Mendelssohn. (C)RS
