Rmy Barreau, who has garnered attention for his Bruckner recordings at St. Florian Abbey in Austria, is also an active member of the Vienna Philharmonic, playing the violin himself. Klangkollektiv Wien was formed by a group of virtuosos active in Viennas leading orchestras, centered around the Vienna Philharmonics renowned clarinetist Neuwirth, with whom they hit it off through their shared musical pursuits. This recording, the ensembles debut album with Barreau as conductor, is a superb performance that vividly demonstrates the groups artistic philosophy: to engage directly with Viennese Classical music and convey the appeal of its formal beauty using modern instruments.
