Robert Lortas Chopin: A Revival of Classic French PianismRobert Lorta was a pianist born in Paris on September 12, 1885. He studied under Louis Dime at the Paris Conservatory. He made his Paris debut in 1910; although his career was interrupted by World War I, he made his comeback in 1916 with a concert tour in the United States. He passed away at the young age of 53 and is now largely forgotten, but he was particularly renowned for his performances of Faur; he premiered the Piano Quintet No. 2 with the Eccan Quartet to great acclaim. Furthermore, most of his recordings were made in the late 1920s, and the Chopin performances included in this release comprise his entire recorded output.
