Baritone Treichel has emerged as a soloist at the Berlin State Opera since 1988 and continues to perform around the world as an outstanding Lieder singer. She has recorded Schubert’s three major lieder collections, “The Beautiful Watermill Girl” in 2004 and “Winterreise” twice in 1998 and 2007, but there has been no CD recording of “Swan Song,” although she performed it in a recital during a visit to Japan. In this album, a long-awaited one for fans, she sings a total of 20 songs in her warm voice, including the regular “Swan Song” song cycle and four others, including “Swan Song,” another song with an independent number. The breathtaking exchanges with his longtime partner Oliver Paul are also a treat to listen to. Naxos Japan
