Peter Fribbins, a British musician who studied with Werner Henze, presents his latest orchestral works, a collection of new orchestral works by Peter Fribbins, who was born in London in 1969 and studied composition with Hans Werner Henze. Many of his works are based on literary, pictorial, and historical themes, and his music is melodic, dramatic, and accessible. The music has a distinctly English flavor in the vein of Britten and Tippett. The four-movement symphony “Gommecourt,” accompanied by piano, tells the dramatic story of the composer’s grandfather, Tom Fribbins, during the Battle of the Somme in 1916. Coupled with the passionate and raucous “Cello Concerto” and “Folk Song,” a beautiful melody by viola. FIRST HAND RECORDS
