Severed Heads, led by Tom Ellarda driving force in Australias underground scenehas had their 1991 ninth album reissued by Dark Entries as a 2-LP set featuring previously unreleased tracks. Reflecting Ellards perspective that music is consumed like coffee, this work offers a humorous yet critical portrayal of the culture of music consumption. The first half features a series of pop songs running about three minutes each, including Pilotin Hell and Ugly Twenties, while the second half, Piscatorial, showcases experimental elements through vintage jazz collages and cut-up techniques. In addition to an early version of the previously unreleased track Seven of Oceans, the release includes a 6-page booklet featuring liner notes, lyrics, and press materials from the time. This definitive reissue once again highlights the bands pop sensibilities and experimental spirit!
