John Neumeiers New Work, The Beethoven ProjectA Fusion of Narrative Ballet and Symphonic BalletTo commemorate the 250th anniversary of Beethovens birth, a video recording of *The Beethoven Project* (premiered in 2018)the first work choreographed by John Neumeier, one of todays foremost choreographers, to Beethovens musicis being released. The work consists of three parts and, based on Beethovens music, expresses the composers own inner world. Part 1, Beethoven Fragments, depicts Beethovens life, which appears in fragments throughout the dance. I take my hat off to the expressive performance of Arayes Martnez in the role of Beethoven. Part 2, Intermezzo, depicts the world of Greek mythology set to the music of The Creatures of Prometheus, and I am captivated by the supple movements of Edwin Levatsov in the role of Apollo. Finally, Part 3, Eroica, features a complete performance of Symphony No. 3
