Ji Vej Vej, a Hungarian prodigy in the world of old Hungarian music who has enriched Glossa’s French Baroque recordings on behalf of Herv Nicquet, including Rameau and Mondonville, and the Orfeo Orchestra & Purcell Choir. The first “non-French” recording since Francesco Bartolomeo Conti (GCD 924004) is the world premiere Passion Oratorio by Gottfried Heinrich Sterzel (1690-1749). Born in Germany, Stelzel met Vivaldi, Scarlatti, and Bononcini during his stay in Italy, and served as music director at the courts of Gela and Saxe-Gotha. He created many dramatic works, oratorios, masses, and instrumental pieces, and was highly praised by J.S.
