Description:

J. Joachim, a 19th-century violin virtuoso, is also known for having owned a large collection of famous instruments. For this recording, Takashi Nagamine performs a collection of Romantic works using one of those instruments: a Stradivarius . The program is an intriguing selection centered on romances, featuring works by Brahms, Schumann, Clara, and Joachim himselfall of whom were close friends of Joachim. This sublime recording presents these rich, lyrical pieces with a sound that retains the essence of that era. (C)RS
