Six Partitas by Johann Krieger, One of the Finest Keyboard Players of His TimeJohann Krieger (16521735) was a German organist and composer born in Nuremberg. Together with his brother, Johann Philipp Krieger, he served as organist to the Royal Court of Bayreuth, and later held positions as court Kapellmeister in Greiz and music director and organist in Zittau. Even Handel regarded him as the foremost organist and composer of his time.He composed numerous religious works, organ pieces, and keyboard works, but many of them were lost due to war and other circumstances.Among Johann Kriegers surviving works, the six suites included here are particularly significant. These were composed in Nuremberg in 1697.
