First stereo release of a treasured recording! Guillerais’ majestic pianism explodes in the coupling of his overwhelming collaboration with Cluytens. This is a Tchaikovsky live performance by Cluytens & the Orchestre Philharmonique de Radio France with the steel pianist Guilleris. This is the first time it has been released in stereo, and we are happy to say that it is the first time it has been released in monaural! The three-dimensional interplay between the clear, flying pianism and the full, flowing orchestra is a joy to behold. The two arrangements performed on the same day are also interesting! The powerful Berlioz arrangement of “La Marseillaise” with chorus was a real stunner, and the encore of Guileris’ signature Sirotti arrangement of “Prelude” brought tears to the audience’s eyes.
