Until just before his retirement from performing in 2002, Maestro Sanderling was a frequent guest with prestigious orchestras throughout Europe, and was respected for his ability to draw an astonishingly high standard of performance from all orchestras. He was a great match for the Vienna Symphony Orchestra, which he played with almost every year. The functional and straightforward response is beautifully matched by Sanderling’s exuberant drive. Both recordings have received Dr. Sanderling’s kind permission for release. Liner notes in English, Japanese, and German are included.
