Ethan Miller and Ben Flashman, founding members of Comets On Fire, have reunited for the first time in about 20 years to release a new album as their new project, The Odyssey Cult. Led by Millerwho is also active in bands such as Howlin Rain and Heron Oblivionthe project features Steve Shelley (Sonic Youth), Anthony Taibi (Carlton Melton/White Manna), Zoh Amba, Brigid Dawson (OSEES), Paula Frazer (Tarnation), and Inna Showalter (Magic Fig). Scorching fuzz, driving motoric beats, noise, saxophone, and layered vocals blend seamlessly to create a dense sound that spans the psychedelic rock lineage from the hippie era through the post-punk era. This album presents a new form of psychedelia that carries on the legacy of Comets on Fire.
