He later studied composition under Reinhold Glier at the Kyiv Conservatory, and after Gliers death, he completed the unfinished Violin Concerto, Op. 100. From 1920, he taught composition and orchestration at his alma mater; he later taught for a time at the Moscow Conservatory as well, and from 1956 onward, he held a leadership position in the Union of Soviet Composers, dedicating himself to the development of the music world.
