The Art of Kaczkowski: The Pioneering Polish Nationalist Violin MusicJoachim Kaczkowski was a Polish violinist and composer. A contemporary of Chopins parents, he is largely forgotten today, yet he contributed significantly to the development of Polish violin music prior to Lipiski and Wieniawski. It is said that even the young Chopin was captivated by his polonaises. This album is a collection of string quartet works, but as is characteristic of a master, the first violin takes center stage in each piece, with the other instruments strictly serving as accompaniment.
