Trio Carnine is ready to take on Slavic works! Trio Carrenine is a French group founded in 2009 and named after Tolstoy’s “Anna Karenina. As the name suggests, they have a special attachment and interest in Russian and Eastern European works, but their previous discs have been of French and Viennese classical works. This time, they are back in their element. This ambitious program features Shostakovich and Weinberg, with Dvok’s masterpiece “Dumky” as the main attraction. Shostakovich’s first piece, written by a young 17-year-old, is a brilliant work with radical writing and youthful melodies. The Weinberg piece was written in 1945, at the end of World War II, and is dedicated to the victims of the Nazis. The piano part is extremely difficult, and Quidale’s brilliant technique shines through. King International
