“The Best of Ziller”Here is a composer of operettas and dance music whom we must not forget. His name is Ziller [18431922]. After gaining experience conducting military bands, he eventually formed his own orchestra and toured Austria and Germany. By 1907, he had risen to the position of conductor at the Vienna Court Ball. Over the course of his life, he composed 23 operettas, as well as some 600 marches and dance pieces, transporting audiences to the height of ecstasy. Although this CD features only a small selection of his works, each piece beautifully conveys the spirit of the good old days. Each piece has a unique twist that is sure to bring a smile to your face.
