Born in the United Kingdom, Elcock had been passionate about music since his youth and was active as a conductor of amateur symphony orchestras. Although he was entirely self-taught as a composer, thanks to a friend who was a BBC producer, he released a short orchestral work in 2009. It immediately caught the attention of composer Robin Walker, who introduced him to Anderson, the founder of Toccata Classics.
