Description:

Ferruccio Furlanetto, the world-famous Italian bass, sings Filippo II and Boris Godunov in “Don Carlo” in this album of four performances at the Vienna State Opera. Filippo II has been a hit role for Furlanetto since he first came into the limelight at the Salzburg Easter Festival in 1986 under Karajan’s baton. He sings with great dignity here as well. Boris sings the famous “Monologue” and “Boris’s Farewell” in the second half of the album, and his performances under Gatti in 2007 and Sohiyev in 2012 were both highly acclaimed and should not be missed.
