Description:

It is said that Monteverdi, one of the most famous composers of his time, favored the small-scale, open-type pipe organ made of Italian cypress wood, which was used in the early 16th century. Coetzfeldt, who is currently recording the complete Monteverdi madrigals for Brilliant Classics, felt the need to reproduce the sound of that organ and began exploring the possibilities of achieving it. Relying on a Dutch music foundation and in consultation with organist Peter van Dijk, and with the help of the Dutch organ production company Kropp, the idea of restoring an organ suitable for Italian music circa 1600 gradually took shape.
