Top Soprano Jans Second Recital Collection of Tragic Opera HeroinesJans 2006 collection of arias by tragic opera heroines (VC-3467622) won the Gramophone Award (Vocal Recital) and Germanys Echo Classic Award (2007), and was met with rave reviews. Building on that success, this new album features a collection of arias and ballet music from the 18th and 19th centuries. The repertoire spans from the Baroque (Rameau) to the Romantic period (Berlioz) and includes famous roles by Gluck (Jans is scheduled to appear in *Alceste* in Aix-en-Provence in 2010), Cherubini, Piccini, Saccini, and Arriaga (known as the Mozart of Spain), among others.
